What Not To Do In a Car Accident

Accidents happen. Getting back on the road shouldn’t be stressful.

It is your legal right to choose where your car is repaired

Hopefully, after an accident, you are physically unhurt, but even so you are not going to be in the best state of mind. You'll be a little shaken up; the adrenaline might be pumping and you could be experiencing some mild shock. Unfortunately, some tow truck drivers and repair shops will prey on this to make a quick buck. Make sure to read both our what to do and what not to do after an accident guides so you can protect yourself.

01

Do not let insurance companies steer you towards their preferred repair shops. It is your right to choose where your car is repaired, and the insurance companies are more interested in keeping the repair bill cheap rather than protecting your expensive investment.

02

Do not let tow trucks take you to their preferred repair facility. Often tow truck drivers and repair shops will work together with the tow truck driver receiving a kickback from whatever work the repair shop bills you. They might even hold your car extorting money from you if you bring it to the repair shop instead of the collision reporting centre.
